A safe, welcoming space to explore, express, and heal

Guided support through counselling, creative therapies, and calming group sessions.

I’m Carole Sanderson, a qualified counsellor offering one-to-one therapy and small group sessions to support emotional wellbeing.

Whether you’re drawn to talking therapy, creative writing, EMDR, or sound-based healing, I provide a calm, non-judgmental space to explore what’s going on for you.

✨ About Me

I’m Carole Sanderson — a BACP-accredited counsellor based in Newcastle, with over 20 years’ experience supporting adults through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. I offer integrative counselling and psychotherapy, EMDR therapy, and supervision for trainee counsellors.

You’ll find a safe, supportive space to explore what you’re going through. Together, we’ll explore the origins of your difficulties, their current impact on your life, and how to move forward with clarity and relief.

Over the years, I’ve worked in GP practices across Newcastle, helping people with anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, and work-related stress. I have over a decade of experience using EMDR to work with trauma, PTSD, childhood abuse, grief, loss, and physical distress.

My approach is always tailored to your unique needs. If you prefer being outdoors, I also offer “Walking the Talking”, a therapeutic walk-and-talk alternative to traditional sessions.

In my work, I often use writing and storytelling as powerful tools for healing, especially helpful if you’re finding it hard to express your feelings out loud. I also write creatively for my own pleasure, and some of my stories have been inspired by work with clients.

🗣️ Group Talking Therapy

A welcoming, small group session (max. 8 people) offering a safe, confidential space to explore emotions, experiences, and challenges, together.

We’ll build trust as a group, agreeing to confidentiality and mutual respect. Sessions may include gentle prompts like photographs, textiles, or other creative tools to help open up conversation.

Each session includes:

Two relaxed halves with a comfort break in between

Light refreshments provided

Led by an experienced therapist

A short phone or Zoom chat is required before joining

✍️ Therapeutic Writing

This gentle group session uses prompts like poetry, prose, and creative props to help you explore emotions and hidden thoughts through writing.

You’ll have the space to write freely, without pressure. Some people choose to share what they’ve written, but that’s completely optional.

Just bring a notepad and pen, and an open mind.

🔔 Meditation & Sound

A gentle introduction to meditation using guided imagery and storytelling to quiet the mind and relax the body.

Let yourself drift into a calmer state as gongs, drums, and vibrational tones take over, soothing your nervous system and preparing you for the rest of your day.

Perfect for beginners or anyone needing a peaceful pause.

🥁 Therapeutic Drumming

No experience needed, just an open heart and a willingness to connect through rhythm.

You’ll drum in short, guided rounds of 10–15 minutes, with optional space in between to reflect or share any experiences that arise. We’ll then continue with another round after a short break.

Bring your own drum if you like, or use one from the selection provided, all included in the session price.

🎶 Sound Therapy

A deeply relaxing experience using gongs, singing bowls, drums, and other instruments to help calm the mind and body.

The vibrations produced during the session can ease tension, reduce stress, and even soothe physical discomfort, offering a gentle introduction into holistic and complementary therapies.

Please bring a yoga mat and your favourite cosy pillow or blanket to help you fully relax.

MERIEL-The Hungry Blackbird is a story about Meriel, who eats to feel better about herself. It's a familiar story of grief and loss and something that we might all do at times when we feel low and are blocking our moving forward..
